Who doesn’t want a robot puppy? Or a robot chess partner? Or even a robot lover?
Well, those dreams would be dust without Isaac Asimov’s seminal 1950s collection of short stories, I, Robot. In it, he coined the now infamous Three Laws of Robotics (basically, robots can’t ever hurt us, even if we’re heaps mean, ha-ha!) and a sweet style of now rather kitsch techno-science fiction. There is a machine-made best-friend ‘Robby’, a giant talking robo-head, theĀ planet Mars, a tight-lipped robo-psychologist called Dr Susan Calvin, and more.
As part of the Creative Sydney: Sydney Sessions series we are teaming up with Dorkbot and the Australian Theatre for Young People to put on a party of all things robot.
There will be:
A performance from Toydeath
Installations by Dubtable and Radar Synthesiser
Short(circuited!) pieces by the ATYP playwrights
Your own fill-in-the-blanks Robot Love comic by our favourite local illustrators, Beef Knuckles
A robot dance-off!

Slide into your best shiny suits and space dresses a la the astronaut family in Lost in Space. If you’ve got a robot, bring him/her!
The MCA hall is big, but not big like the Tardis is. So reserve your spot now. The party kicks off at 8:30pm and doors close at 10:30pm. OK for a school night, right?
